Our visit to MongoDB World 2022 in New York 🗽 is over. Days full of keynotes, break-out sessions, customer cases and of course many new features. Some colleagues from DevRepublic -as official MongoDB system integrator partner- were and have MongoDB CEO Dev Ittycheria.

MongoDB is the modern document-oriented database behind many apps and web applications. Many new features were announced during MongoDB World, but these can only be seen “under the hood”. They all contribute to an improvement in the speed of the application, more and better search functionalities on the data and a shorter lead time for development.

We would like to explain a number of new features of MongDB 6.0:

‣ Atlas Data Lake is extended with Atlas Data federation. This is a cloud-based object storage for facilitating analytical queries. This makes it possible to query multiple clusters, move data, compare and more.

‣ Atlas SQL interface makes it possible to link a SQL database to MongoDB as a data source and to consult it. This allows you to quickly create analyses, insights, visualizations and dashboards.

‣ Atlas data API easily connects to the MongoDB database. This makes it possible to build fully managed apps and services on atlas through this API.

‣ Atlas Device Sync is extended with Flexible Sync. This solution ensures that the client-side database Realm and MongoDB Atlas are synchronized. This makes it easier to perfectly match the databases of mobile devices and MongoDB.

‣ Flutter and Kotlin SDKs become available. The Realm Kotlin SDK - which includes full Kotlin Multiplatform support - provides Kotlin APIs for developers using Kotlin in their mobile apps. The Realm Flutter SDK allows developers to test synchronization in the Flutter applications.

‣ Queryable encryption is querying encrypted data without decrypting it first. MongoDB checks the query and when it is for encrypted data, a driver within database ensures that it is executed, but the data remains encrypted on the server at all times. Customers are ultimately presented with the results of their search query in plain text. Even searching for parts of the data is possible.
